Public lighting

The Province of Limburg together with the municipalities of Maastricht, Meerssen and Sittard-Geleen are planning a contract for the supply and maintenance of the public lighting.

There are currently about 7,500 light poles in Limburg and almost 9,000 luminaires (supporting structures) spread along provincial roads throughout the province.

The aim is to conclude a framework agreement for the performance of the maintenance contract.

Dimming lighting and switching to LED fixtures saves approximately 657,468 kg of CO2 per year based on gray electricity.

Tender

For this tender, the minimum criteria from the MVI criterion tool apply as a requirement for:

  • GROUNDWORKS, SITE PREPARATION AND REMEDIATION / SOIL REMEDIATION
  • CABLES AND PIPES
  • PUBLIC LIGHTING
  • MOBILE IMPLEMENTS OUTSURING.

Award criteria 

As award criteria for sustainability and innovation (20%), the entrepreneur must describe how this is implemented in his own organization, the working method and the service provision in relation to the assignment.

    “The MVI criteria requirements have been applied for the lighting. To increase circularity, sustainability and innovation were requested for this tender. By switching completely to LED, we will save the power consumption of approximately 400 households every year”.
