RENEWABLE ENERGY
In 2018, eight provinces formed a purchasing collective for the implementation of a joint European tender for the supply of sustainable electricity and green gas, respectively.
At the end of 2019, this led to two agreements with 100% renewable energy without fossil fuels.
The signed electricity agreement includes provision for electricity to be supplied in the last 2 supply years for projects still to be developed (additionality), for example through sustainable generation in infrastructural projects.
The signed gas agreement has led to 100% green gas as of 1-1-2020, with which the Province of Zeeland has switched from fossil gas to renewable gas.
